Description

The ManuLoc Long Plus is an advanced orthopedic wrist and forearm brace designed to provide extended support and immobilization for the wrist, forearm, and thumb. It is particularly beneficial for treating severe injuries, post-operative care, and managing chronic conditions like arthritis or tendonitis that require not only wrist but also thumb stabilization. The brace combines comfort with enhanced immobilization, helping users recover more effectively while minimizing discomfort.

Applications:

  • Post-Surgical Recovery:
    • Recommended for patients recovering from wrist, thumb, or forearm surgeries, such as carpal tunnel release, tendon repairs, or thumb ligament surgery.
  • Severe Wrist and Thumb Injuries:
    • Ideal for wrist fractures, severe sprains, or ligament injuries that require extended forearm and thumb immobilization.
  • Chronic Conditions:
    • Used to manage chronic conditions such as severe arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, or tendonitis, where both the wrist and thumb are affected.
  • Thumb Injuries:
    • Specifically useful for treating conditions involving the thumb, such as De Quervain’s tenosynovitis or thumb fractures.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive Immobilization: Provides support to the wrist, forearm, and thumb, making it ideal for complex injuries or conditions affecting multiple joints.
  • Comfortable and Breathable: Allows for long-term wear without discomfort, even in warmer conditions.
  • Customizable Fit: Adjustable straps allow for a personalized fit, ensuring the brace provides adequate support while remaining comfortable.

The ManuLoc Long Plus is an excellent solution for individuals who need extended support and immobilization for both the wrist and thumb, making it a versatile option for post-surgical care, injury recovery, and chronic conditions.

Size Measurements

To ensure the ManuLoc Long Plus wrist brace fits properly and provides optimal support, it’s important to take accurate wrist, forearm, and thumb measurements. Follow these instructions to find the right size:

Measurement Instructions:

  1. Measure Wrist Circumference:
    • Use a flexible tape measure.
    • Wrap the tape around your wrist just above the bony part (similar to where a watch would sit).
    • Ensure the tape is snug but not too tight, and record the measurement in centimeters or inches.
  2. Measure Forearm Circumference:
    • Measure the circumference of your forearm approximately 10 cm (4 inches) up from the wrist.
    • This ensures the brace fits securely along the extended part of your forearm. Keep the tape snug and flat, and note the measurement.
  3. Measure Thumb Circumference (if required):
    • Some braces may require a thumb measurement, especially for braces that include thumb immobilization like the ManuLoc Long Plus.
    • Measure around the base of your thumb (just above the webbing between the thumb and index finger) for an accurate thumb fit.
  4. Check the Sizing Chart:
    • Use the wrist and forearm circumference measurements to compare against the ManuLoc Long Plus sizing chart provided below.

Key Features

  1. Extended Design with Thumb Support:
    • The ManuLoc Long Plus features an extended brace that stabilizes both the wrist and forearm. In addition to wrist support, it also immobilizes the thumb, providing more comprehensive stabilization for injuries or conditions involving the thumb and wrist joint.
  2. Anatomical Shape:
    • The brace is ergonomically designed to fit the natural contours of the hand, wrist, and forearm. This ensures a secure, comfortable fit while effectively restricting movement to promote healing.
  3. Breathable and Lightweight Materials:
    • Made from high-quality, breathable materials, the brace allows for air circulation, preventing excessive sweating and irritation. Its lightweight design ensures that it can be worn comfortably for extended periods.
  4. Adjustable Velcro Straps:
    • Equipped with multiple Velcro straps, the ManuLoc Long Plus allows for a customized fit. The straps are easy to adjust, ensuring that the brace fits snugly without feeling too tight or uncomfortable.
  5. Thumb Immobilization:
    • Unlike the regular ManuLoc Long, the ManuLoc Long Plus includes additional support to immobilize the thumb, making it ideal for conditions like thumb ligament injuries, De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, or thumb fractures.
  6. Rigid Support:
    • The brace contains rigid stabilizers that help keep the wrist, thumb, and forearm in a neutral position. This rigidity ensures that movement is restricted, reducing strain on the injured areas and preventing further damage.
  7. Open-Finger Design:
    • While the wrist and thumb are stabilized, the fingers remain free to move, allowing for basic daily activities without compromising wrist or thumb support.

Care Instructions

To maintain the quality and functionality of your ManuLoc Long Plus wrist brace, follow these care instructions to ensure it stays clean and effective:

Cleaning Instructions:

  1. Hand Wash Only:
    • The ManuLoc Long Plus should be hand-washed in lukewarm water (not exceeding 30°C or 86°F).
    • Do not machine wash, as the mechanical agitation could damage the brace’s support structures and straps.
  2. Use Mild Detergent:
    • Use a gentle, mild detergent that is safe for sensitive fabrics. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, or other harsh chemicals, as they can deteriorate the brace’s materials and reduce its longevity.
  3. Rinse Thoroughly:
    • After washing, rinse the brace thoroughly to ensure all soap is removed. Soap residue can cause skin irritation if left in the fabric.

Drying Instructions:

  1. Air Dry:
    • Lay the brace flat on a towel to air dry. Do not hang it, as this could stretch the material or warp its structure.
    • Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources such as radiators, dryers, or hair dryers, as excessive heat can warp the brace’s support components and damage the fabric.
  2. Do Not Wring Out:
    • Gently press the brace between towels to remove excess water. Do not wring or twist the brace, as this could damage its shape and the rigid support structures.

Maintenance Tips:

  1. Regular Cleaning:
    • Clean the brace regularly, especially after heavy use or sweating, to prevent odor buildup and ensure proper hygiene.
  2. Check Velcro Straps:
    • Periodically inspect the Velcro straps for lint, dirt, or debris, which can reduce their effectiveness. Clean the Velcro using a small brush or adhesive tape to remove any buildup.
